SketchUp reminds me of playing with Draw on the Acorn as a kid – it’s like digital lego, hella intuitive to use. Looks like combined with the LightUp plug-in, will be a powerful partner to Unity.
Timewave Zero
Posted in Uncategorized on 28 November 2009 by adaptandclarifySomeone mentioned 2012, so I had a look at it again. Now is not the time for serious talk of the subject (if such a thing is possible). Reknowned crazy person Terrance McKenna and his Timewave Zero – a singularity of interconnectedness occuring in the aforementioned year, when everything that can happen, will happen, instantaneously (sounds messy, he came up with it on shrooms by all accounts) – is attractive, in name, and in the Invisibles tingles it gives me.
So, inspired by the Rock Paper ShotgUnity project, and full of coffee and creativity. Unity downloaded. Wrote some Javascript (doesn’t work, natch).
Distraction – making textures w/ K’s 300D and Photoshop. I will texture a cube by the end of the day.. It’s all about achievable goals. NaNoWriMo – No! 10% complete – but it has been a busy month. Someone bring me pastries.
Ghetto Carbonara
Posted in Uncategorized on 11 September 2009 by adaptandclarifyFunny how lack of resources can lead to some delish dishes.
Ghetto Carbonara – Serves 2 (hungry) people
About 1/2 a pack of spaghetti (although any pasta will do)
4 rashers of bacon
2 eggs
Milk or cream
Clove of garlic
Crushed chilli, salt & pepper
Knob of butter
Olive oil
Boil water, add salt & pasta.
Beat egg with dash of milk or cream, season to taste.
Fry or grill bacon til just done, then chop roughly. Finely chop garlic and add to knob of butter in pan with sprinkling of crushed chillis. Add bacon and fry til golden & crispy.
Drain pasta when done (about 8 minutes), and put back in pan (off heat), stirring in egg mix, bacon bits etc. Serve immediately with parmesan on top.
Dead Space

Taken me a while to get into, but I’m now thoroughly enjoying Dead Space, a new EA IP crossing Resident Evil with System Shock 2, and to good effect. Could do with a better variety of icky gore-beasts to dismember but I’m only 2 hours into it – one of those games that is best in small doses. The future-gothic design is well thought out, down to the detailing on the maintenance-dude-turned-action-hero player character’s boiler suit, and apart from a bit of buggy physics implementation, the PC port is fine – although some of the menus could have done with a bit of fine-tuning. And despite all the grim, it can be a pretty game (see above).
