LHC: Apocalypse Unlikely

Beautiful photos of the Large Hadron Collider & attached experiments (via FFFOUND!). Seems it’s pretty unlikely (read scientifically impossible) that a Half-life style experiment-gone-wrong would lead to a black hole devouring the earth as a few crack-pot scaremongers have suggested, and new science is equally unlikely to crop up for a few years. That said, 2012 is a few years away – and despite my usual cynicism I’m coming around to the idea that 2012 may be an important year for the human race – whether supernaturally or otherwise.
